Question by Samantha Jade: Can you own an owl as a pet in the state of Georgia?
Just a random thought that popped into my head. Well, sort of random; my fraternity's mascot is an owl, so that's probably where the thought came from. Would it be legal to have an owl as a pet? How would you go about getting one? Where would you get one? I must know!

Why would anyone want to be that cruel? Do you not understand what it is about owls that make them a good mascot? And yet you all want to take that away from a magnificent bird.
Shame on you.
It is ILLEGAL to own an owl anywhere in the US. (Rehab facilities, zoos, etc. are an exception).
You can encourage an owl to stay in your area, if there is one there you can build an owl house. But never think of it as a pet.
Get a realistic looking stuff owl or an owl costume.

This owl--Louise (nickname Wee) loves Annie the bird dog. You should see where they work visit them at: www.tacticalavianpredators.com and www.raptoradventur...
There are several states that allow you to own an owl or certain breeds of owls, most, though, require a permit. Sorry, Libraryanna, you need to check your facts.
