Does anyone know how do you keep a bald eagle out of your back yard? There's one lurking around out back, eyeing up my cat and my neighbor's beagle puppies. I know they're protected and I don't want to hurt him in any way. I was just wondering if maybe a scarecrow type thing might work?

Bald Eagles mostly eat fish..they don't typically go after cats and dogs. They will also eat carrion, and sometimes will take waterfowl or small mammals such as mice. Their lifting power is 4lbs. so unless your cat and dogs weigh 3lbs or less, you really don't have anything to worry about. If you are very concerned for your pets safety, then don't let them outside unsupervised. It is up to you to keep your pets safe. You really cannot stop nature to protect domesticated animals that you are capable of keeping safe with just a small amount of effort. Scarecrows are not really going to work..the best I can suggest is you place something in the yard that moves..birds don't like motion. You can hang CDs or pie tins on strings from trees in your yard that will swing and sway in the wind and scare birds away.

Advertising! any form is helpful. Go out out and put some posters. Have a street party and encourage people to bring their dogs. Remember that you have to spend money to make money. Try sponsoring a sports team. Get on the local radio and get them to promote your buisness. It's all about getting people to remember your company's name.

The family will be going on a vacation soon and we have to friends that are able to look after our dog.
I'm really unsettled about this as I can't bear leaving the dog behind. Would it be okay for the dog-caring service to look after her? Any special precautions need to be taken?

We're trying to hurry up this outing but I think it may be for 1-2 weeks (at most).

Yes , you should leave it in the dog-caring service if you have no other options. If any of your relatives have any dogs , you can ask he/she to help you take care of it. Hope i helped.

A shelter is a place with a roof where you run to when there is rain. Using the same analogy, a shelter is a place for homeless dogs. For Singaporeans it could only mean the SPCA at Bartley Road. Take a taxi there. A dog can live up to fifteen years. When it dies of old age it is like having a teenage child who died. If you can bear the grief, then keeping a dog is okay as you are unlikely to throw it away back to the shelter. If you are unsure, get a cat.

Most saltwater fish are not raised in captivity. Some clowns and gobies but thats not enough to start a business. There are more tank raised corals, most LFS get there stuff from California and Florida. There are some companies in Florida that aquaculture live rock.

There is also farm raise african cichlids farms in FL if you are looking for something else.

Also make sure you can pick up your shipment at the airport to avoid high shipping charges.

Why would anyone want to be that cruel? Do you not understand what it is about owls that make them a good mascot? And yet you all want to take that away from a magnificent bird.

Shame on you.

It is ILLEGAL to own an owl anywhere in the US. (Rehab facilities, zoos, etc. are an exception).

You can encourage an owl to stay in your area, if there is one there you can build an owl house. But never think of it as a pet.

Get a realistic looking stuff owl or an owl costume.

It seems a little strange that people get worked up over cruelty to foxes and pet rabbits while our ethnic friends are busy slitting the throats (without first stunning) of various creatures for their meat. If the supporters of animals rights object to the practice of Halal, why don't we ever hear about it? Maybe they are too afraid!
This would equally apply to Kosher meat and any other kind which is killed in this way.

You put in for 4-H; not us. Each place wants different things, and since you experienced with that place more you should know better. You should obvously know at least SOME, especially if you have a dog. It's very easy things to come up with. Research about dogs, then you'll find out.

well im wondering the same thing for myself lol. ive gotten ideas like coatamundis, kinkajous, sugar gliders. and i also will add that if he can get certain liscences he'd be able to own bobcats, raccoons, skunks, servals, jungle cats and lots more. just look up on the internet on exotic pets.

Our elderly neighbor who had two horses recently died. His will stated that his daughter could decide what to do for his two horses, Pet, a 33 year old blind mustang, and Nick, her 17 year old paint mix grandson. His daughter lives right in the middle of Las Vegas and has no money for boarding for either of them, so she asked if we would be willing to take them, which we did. The thing is, is Pet has been in the same 30x50 foot corral since she went blind seven years ago, and had the same owner since she was caught wild at three. We're thinking of building a corral that same size and making everything precisely the same, but that would cause a lot of trouble space/wise on our ranch, and I'm not sure she would quite settle down as she would know it's not the same pen. She'd also have her grandson with her like it was, but I'm worried that the stress of their owner dying might cause Nick to bully her. We've also considered putting her down, but besides her being blind she's perfectly healthy besides some arthritis. I'm just really at a loss at what to do, as I've never actually owned a blind horse before, besides my having handled Pet near-daily since her owner had been diagnosed with cancer two years ago.

Help? Again, I really don't want to put her down, but I'm extremely scared that that's what's going to have to happen.

Put her in your pasture with her grandson and he will tell her when she get's to a fence or where the feed trough is, he has been with her so he knows she is blind and probably has become her eyes.
