I dont understand why everybody says to adopt a shelter pet?

Question by Luke B: I dont understand why everybody says to adopt a shelter pet?
Why is it that everyone hates dog breeders. Some people are looking for certain things in a breed and you just cant find that in a shelter pet. What is the big deal?

As long as you go through a reputable breeder there is no big deal at all :)
