How to keep chickens warm in the winter?

My family is looking into buying chickens, as pets. We were thinking it through, and were wondering how to keep our chickens warm during the winter, or how many chickens so they can all stay warm? And how big a coop we would need based off of the number of chickems? Thank you sooo much!!! :o)
