Are hedgehogs friendly pets if you raise them from an early age?

I'm thinking about getting a hedgehog for a pet, but I don't know too much about them. I was wondering if they're friendly or playful at all, or if they're mostly just quiet pets. And I was also wondering what their price range was, and if they're really expensive to keep.
